Benjamin Lister is a filmmaker from Birmingham, England. He got his first commission at sixteen, a documentary about homelessness in Birmingham, before moving into music videos for artists including Roots Manuva and Diplo. From there he made a run of award-winning shorts; his latest, The Curse of the Internet Man, won three international short film competitions.
Since then he's worked around the world making gritty documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4, from murdered rappers in LA to drug lords in Lebanon and gangs in El Salvador. His BBC film A Very British Cult drew wide critical acclaim, and The Cult of Nature Boy reached number one on Disney+ for a week. Most recently he was Director of Photography on Breaking Ranks: Inside Israel's War, was nominated for a BAFTA, RTS and a Grierson Documentary Award.
